Non-Carnal Beings
You innocent, I have guilt at times that I am your inverse
Corporeal, earthly, a dragon of earth
a charnel child, my father’s daughter
you are not from here I see
you are not like me,
did you ever like me?
My young wings covered in fur
I flew clumsily at first
Unlike the gossamer butterflies you loved so
But then I flew faster, higher, smarter, better
were you proud of me ever?
I’m now a speck on an infinite sky
but you will always love
the silken cords, the gossamer butterflies,
the Dresden ballerinas
That I despised.
